To strengthen the education sector in Bangladesh and realize the potential for widespread use of renewable energy, the “Green Educational Institution” initiative has been launched. Under this initiative, it is anticipated that installing solar power systems in every educational institution across 495 upazilas will meet at least 20% of local electricity demand. As a result, students in rural areas will gain uninterrupted access to electricity, creating a better learning environment, while educational institutions can also achieve financial self-sufficiency through net-metering by selling excess power.
This initiative not only increases the availability of electricity but also plays a vital role in ensuring financial independence, a healthy environment, and high-quality education. By reducing reliance on fossil fuels, lowering carbon emissions, managing electricity costs, and connecting students to digital learning systems, “Green Educational Institution” is opening a new horizon for the nation’s overall development.
